The weather across Northwest Arkansas this afternoon was dominated by a very warm and muggy airmass characterized by temperatures in the upper 80s to the lower 90s and dewpoints in the lower 70s. Weather radar was showing isolated showers and thunderstorms developing over portions of Northwest Arkansas, and the latest forecast model suggest an isolated shower or thunderstorm will remain possible until about sunset.

After a warm night tonight, temperatures on Saturday will again climb to highs in the upper 80s to the mid 90s, ahead of a cold front and heat indices will approach heat advisory criteria. This cold front will move into Northwest Arkansas Saturday afternoon and will bring a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms as it pushes into our area. Drier air will filter into Northwest Arkansas Saturday night with significantly less humid conditions by Sunday across Northwest Arkansas. The much needed relief from the heat and humidity is expected through at least the middle of next week.

...This Day in Weather History...

In 2002, 3 to 6 inches of rain fell across Northwest Arkansas. 6.63 inches fell at Prairie Grove in Washington county.
